RIP Danny Mullinger, Kampot Expat

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

From the Kampot Noticeboard:
With heavy heart and much sadness, I have to Inform all that at 03.45 this morning, Danny Mullinger passed away, I’m not going into details as I don’t know but apparently he never regained consciousness after being induced into coma 2 and half weeks ago after a fall at his residence in Kampot. A friend is going to contact his daughter in Malta this morning. Don’t know what to say really, he was a great bloke had some fun chats and a few beers with him. R.I.P Danny
Condolences to his family and friends.

RIP. I don’t think any expat has ever survived an induced coma in Cambodia.

Rest In Peace Daniel.

We had many laughs together over the years in Sihanoukville.
He had a motorbike accident a few years ago in Kampot and never recovered to Danny the party man.
I think his mother who celebrated 100 years not too long ago is still alive and well.

You will be missed Daniel.

Inducing coma is a bridge to buy the brain time while the underlying problem is fixed. It’s usually carefully monitored.

Routinely used in Western medicine along with heart surgery, brain surgery, etc. to fix the primary problem.

Does Cambodia routinely have the advanced technologies to safely monitor a medically induced coma? Are they able to routinely do brain and major vessel surgery and heart surgery?

What I’ve seen at the district and the provincial level is medicine done with shoestrings and tape.
