Police Seize 5 Kilos of Drugs Sent to Phnom Penh Post Office

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Anti-Drug Department said that on May 31,2023, a Vietnamese man was arrested in connection with a cross-border drug trafficking case, involving more than 5 kilograms of drugs sent by mail to Phnom Penh on May 27, 2023.

According to the same source, once the arrival of the drugs was detected by customs agents, Lt. Gen. Neth Savoeun, National Police Commissioner General, and Gen. Mak Chito, Deputy Commissioner General for Drug Crimes under the direct command of Lt. Gen. Kheng Sarath. Director of the Anti-Drug Department, ordered a police stake-out at the Central Post Office at Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh.

As a result, the police arrested a suspect named VU QUANG MINH, male, Vietnamese, born on August 16, 1984.

The confiscated drugs were: ketamine weighing 4,212 grams (4 kgs and 212g), and MDMA (ecstasy) weighing 1,018 grams (one kg and eighteen g.) It seems that the drugs were sent packaged in boxes of Mousseline (ready-mix mashed potato).
The suspect is being still questioned by the authorities.
