young Cambodians
my encounters with young Khmer people give me a lot of hope for the future.
they seem to have a well developed moral sense, and also respect for nature and the environment.
many of them have been touched by land grabs and other human rights issues in their extended families, which seems to add a certain solidarity in their group thinking.
it is a concern that the political opposition uses populism and demagoguery in thier efforts to undermine the staus quo.
xenophobia and racism are a real threat to the future development of Cambodia, and hopefully this will soon be realized.
my advice to these kids is to not be too judgemental, because this can lead to being manipulated by politicians.
i think these observations hold true for most countries.
the older generation have mostly done the best they can under the circumstances, but a fresh view is called for, and the kids seem quite alive to the reality.

there is always room for improvement....but I do like the strong sense of family that is present in both the young and old of Cambodia...
in regards to the environment Cambodia has very good protective laws , which unfortunately just aren't enforced ....

Re: young Cambodians
Now, if some of them will get a degree in something other than "accounting/banking and finance" it all just might work out.

Re: young Cambodians
Good point GM...any young Cambodian who studies a science and gets a higher grade for their first degree in Cambodia , will get a masters or PHD paid for by a overseas university/government...I got two Cambodians on a master coarse in Wales and Germany respectively ...all fees paid for, accommodation and a bursary to boot...
