Woman's Body Found Burnt with Throat Slit

Cambodia News (Thbong Khmum Province): At 8:00 am on May 4, 2023, the burnt body of an unidentified woman was discovered in a banana plantation in Punleak village, Chong Cheach commune, Dombe district, Tbong Khmum province. The unknown woman had had her throat slit before she was burnt under a pile of dry banana leaves, and it is estimated that she was aged twenty to thirty years old.

According to the police, the victim was murdered at another location, and the body was taken to the plantation to be burnt after she died. The police were alerted by villagers living nearby who noticed the strange smell. The body had been buried under a pile of dried banana leaves before being set alight, and a preliminary investigation confirmed that the cause of death was a wound to the throat by a sharp instrument such as a knife.
The authorities have started searching for the victim's identity, family, and the perpetrator.
