Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A farmer screamed with horror, sounding the alarm in his village of Koh Krabei in Phnom Penh, as he ran to warn the villagers that he had found a human skeleton in the pond where he was fishing. He went to report the shocking catch to the local authorities who went to the pond to check immediately.
This incident happened at 8:30am on April 30, 2023 in the lake by the pagoda in Koh Krabei Village, Sangkat Prek Thmey, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.

According to the fisherman, he dammed up part of the pond and was pumping the water out to trap fish. When there was almost no water left, the man saw some fish in the mud and went to catch them. But when he put his hands into the mud to grab the fish, he pulled up some human bones. He then screamed with shock and went to alert the village.

According to local police officers who arrived at the scene, they found some red shorts and a black T-shirt in the shallow pool of water, together with a skeleton and a skull.


The bones of the victim bore no noticeable fractures or traces of violence, but Mr. Oknha Dr. Nong Sovannaroth, a forensic doctor for the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, said that he could not conclude the cause of death immediately or identify the deceased, because only the skeleton remains. The police investigation and the forensic examination continue.

Someone got away with murder, and most likely will continue to do so.
