Heads up ! Traffic perturbations in store for Phnom Penh during the SEA Games, and driving around town may be difficult for the next few weeks (until May 17/18). If anyone knows of any unexpected road closures, or any traffic problems due to the Games at venues outside of Phnom Penh, please share.

Road closures announced for 32nd SEA Games 2023
The Phnom Penh Capital Administration on April 28, 2023 has issued notifications on the temporary avoidance of all types of vehicles for the 32nd SEA Games 2023 at Morakot Techo Stadium.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration states that in order the the opening and closing ceremonies of the 32nd SEA Games 2023 at Morakot Techo Stadium to run smoothly, maintain security, safety, order and public order, Phnom Penh Capital Administration will temporarily suspend traffic around the venue

The program does not allow all types of vehicles to cross the section of Win Boulevard from the base of Prek Pnov Bridge to National Road 6 on May 05, 2023 and on May 17, 2023 until the end of the program for each day .

For the roads and boulevards that the delegation and the athletes have to cross, such as the section of National Road No. 6 (from the four Brahma roundabouts to the border of Phnom Penh), the section of the boulevard wins (from National Road No. 6 to Phnom Penh-Hanoi Friendship Blvd. and the Phnom Penh-Hanoi Friendship Blvd. (from Victory Blvd to Russian Federation Blvd. there will be traffic restrictions from the 3rd until May 17, 2023.)

Twenty Venues Ready for 32nd SEA Games 2023
AKP Phnom Penh, April 30, 2023 --

The 32nd SEA Games 2023, starting next week, will take place at 20 venues, of which 14 in Phnom Penh capital city, and the rest in Siem Reap cultural province and the coastal provinces of Preah Sihanouk, Kep and Kampot.

The Morodok Techo National Stadium, the Olympic National Stadium and the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre are the three major venues in the capital.

The 32nd SEA Games will be opened and closed in solemn ceremonies at the Morodok Techo National Stadium on May 5 and 17, respectively. The new sailing ship-shaped stadium will host events of Athletics (Track & Field) on May 8-12; Aquatics (Swimming on May 6-11, Diving on May 8-11, and Fin Swimming on May 12-14); Badminton on May 8-16; Table Tennis on May 9-16; Basketball (3x3 on May 6-7 and 5x5 on May 9-16); Martial Art: Kick Boxing on May 13-16 and Kun Khmer on May 6-11; Hockey on May 9-16; and Tennis on May 6-14.

At the National Olympic Stadium, there will be nine types of sports like Football (April 29-May 16); Aquatics (Water Polo) (May 12-16); Dance Sports (May 16); Gymnastics, including Artistic (May 6-10) and Aerobic (May 12-14); Petanque (May 6-13); Sepak Takraw (May 6-16); Soft Tennis (May 6-10); Indoor Volleyball (May 3-4, and 6-14); and Weightlifting (May 13-16).

Other sports events – Boxing (May 6-14), Fencing (May 11-16), Judo (May 13-16), Karate (May 6-9), Arnis (May 14-16), Jujitsu (May 4-7), Kun Bokator (May 4-10), Vovinam (May 6-9), Obstacle Race (May 3-7), Pencak Silat (May 6-10), Taekwondo (May 12-16), Wresting (May 14-16), and Wushu (May 10-12)– will occur at the Chroy Changvar International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Indoor Hockey (May 01-08) and Floor Ball (May 11-16) will be held at Dinosaur Park Hall in Khan Chroy Changvar, while Chess: Xiagqi (May 12-16) and Ouk Chaktrong (April 29- May 9) at the Dambol Touk Hall, Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP).

Other venues such as J Snooker Hall will accommodate Billiards events (May 3-11); AZ Group Cricket Oval will be for Cricket (T20/Sixes on May 7-16 and T50/T10 on April 29 to May 6); Nagaworld 2 and Olympia Mall for E-sports (May 6-16); Garden City Golf Club for Golf (May 8-13); and Federation of Youth Hall for Teqball (Demonstration Sport) (May 6-9).

In addition to the National Olympic Stadium, Football matches will also be organised at Prince Stadium, RSN Stadium, and Army Stadium (Old Stadium).

Siem Reap province will host three types of sports: Athletics (Marathon/20Km Walk) (May 6) and Cycling (Road Race) (May 6-8) in front of Angkor Wat Temple, and Cycling (MTB) (May 11-13) at Kulen Mountain.

For the coastal provinces, Preah Sihanouk will cover Jet Ski (May 13-16) and Sailing (May 1-8) at Sokha Beach, and Beach Volleyball (May 11-16) at Otres Beach, whereas Kampot will be for Traditional Boat Race (May 10-16); and Kep for Triathon/Aquathlon/Duathlon (May 6-8).
