Cambodian citizenship

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I would carefully check out the laws of your home country first, because do you know how hard it is to travel abroad on only a Cambodian passport? In 2018 there will be elections here (maybe). The party in power will likely (maybe) loose, and just as likely (maybe) won't leave. In situations like that things can get difficult fast and the best thing an expat can have is their passport to board a plane.
Exactly that. And btw........in 2018 you don't want to be in Cambodia....believe me. Things will be going quickly out of hand and with that Sam Rainsy idiot in power your (foreign) ass will be on the line. History repeats itself !!!!!! They haven't learned ANYTHING.
@Francis - Your broken record bitter comments are beyond tiring! Give it a rest. We all get it. You couldn't handle Cambodia.
I'll give ya 500 Riel for it...

flying chicken wrote:Points are somewhat equally valid. Yea, it is true, the younger generations will gradually forgot about the genocide -- Cambodia is moving too fast. People are lost trying to keep up with the technological and modern trends. In term of forgetting their historical past, the same can be argued about other countries. For instance, the Korean war. The survivors of the KR regime, does not positively impact this country; if anything, imo, they are happy to be alive due to the horror and tremor. Hence, I think this oppressed regime used it to their advantage...with the backing of the communists.

Regardless whether the youth forgetting about this country's historical past is irrelevant in term of livelihood. Their lives will be impacted and hard. I envisage there will be a major eruption within this decade from the continuous stagnant in income, crazy inflation, suppression and oppression freedom of speech and especially in sorry states on one's family, parents and siblings.

The future of this country is fragile and in a sorry sate. The economy relies on exports, and they are depleting or soon going extinct. Unless they can pull the South Korea miracle, which I highly doubt.
You had better solve your problem, rather than concern about this country.
