Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): At 12:00 pm on April 23, 2023, a man, who had spent the night picking up scrap metal out of the garbage, went to sleep on a blanket, rolled into the river and died, causing surprise to national and international guests who were walking in front of the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

The deceased man was named as Yus Samnang, alias Tou, 29 years old, a scavenger, living in a rented room around Chak Angre Krom pagoda, Meanchey district.

According to some tourists who were at the scene, Tou was seen picking up some empty drink cans at the riverfront in front of the palace, after working all night. He was carrying a bag full of scrap metal, which he used as a pillow when he went to sleep on the bank of the river; but after he fell asleep, his body rolled into the river and sank immediately.

Immediately after receiving the information that someone had fallen into the river, the police of Daun Penh district rented a Cham fishing boat to retrieve the body, which was handed over to relatives after police inspection. RIP.
