The steaks are high, and it’s rare- a meaty topic. Well done?!

Has there been an unusually high number of industrial disasters in the United States lately, or is the media just giving them more attention now because it’s a hot topic?

I really do not think so. Sure, 18,000 cows going boom is unusual, but apart from that? Two derailments in what, 3 months? When it is a well established fact the the American infrastructure is crumbling.Ryan754326 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 2:49 pm Has there been an unusually high number of industrial disasters in the United States lately, or is the media just giving them more attention now because it’s a hot topic?

Loving the cow puns. Very a-moo-zing.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Re: Boom! There go 18000 cows!
Some simple maths suggests that this is bollox. Say a cow is 50cm wide (0.5m) and 2 metres long. So that area is 1 square metre. So 18,000 cows equals a total area of 18,000 square metres (unless they are stacked on top of each other). 18,000 square metres is equal to a square with each side 134 metres long. It would require a very large explosion to obliterate a square that size....

I’m inclined to think that an explosion led to a substantial fire which is the source of the huge plume of smoke. The explosion may have accounted for some of the fatalities, but likely not all; the rest being due to smoke, panic, nature of the building.

that's a good supposition,Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 9:16 pm I’m inclined to think that an explosion led to a substantial fire which is the source of the huge plume of smoke. It states the size of the plant.
It's a very RARE kind of accident, granted.
