Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On 5 April, 2023, a man was arrested by the Dangkor district police force after he stabbed his wife to death with a pair of scissors out of jealousy, at 11 am in their house in Tali village, Dangkor district.

The suspect is Teang Raksmey, a 42 year old motorbike taxi driver, and his wife, 40-year-old Yeun Dina, was working as a security guard, and the couple lived together at the above address. They have two sons and a daughter, and one of their son is a monk.

Police said that on 4 April 2023, at 21:00, the man told his wife to quit her job as a security guard at the Thnal Bot market traffic light, because he was jealous and suspected her of having an affair with a co-worker. The woman refused to give up her job and the pair had an argument, which became violent. The man picked up some scissors which were lying on the bed, and he stabbed his wife with them several times, first in the side, then in the neck. He then smothered the woman with the mattress until she stopped breathing.

The police report said that the suspect then loaded the victim onto his motorcycle and pushed it into the a canal on National Road 3, and fled the scene on foot. However, the next morning, at 10:00am on April 5, 2023, the suspect asked a tuk tuk driver to take him back to the crime scene by the canal (to check on the body), and he was arrested later at 11:30 a.m. by the police.
