Death Island- Koh Tao

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

"The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) states that the motives of serial killers can include anger, thrill-seeking, financial gain, and attention seeking, and killings may be executed as such. The victims may have something in common; for example, demographic profile, appearance, gender or race."

Every death is different so there is no single plausible motive for any of those deaths that one might consider as suspicious. Some deaths are more suspicious than others and at one extreme, Mr Ban’s death was a very clear case of murder. Being shot 6 times by a gunman wearing a balaclava is a bit of a clue to it being a murder.

Swedish man, 37, found hanged on Koh Tao leaving his partner and two stepsons aged 16 & 20 in a precarious predicament with his hotel bill that they could not cover having already spent their own cash. Their passports were seized and they became trapped in paradise.

The local police claimed the Swede committed suicide .. Yes another one. However one of his stepsons is sure that his stepdad was murdered adding that the police took no interest in investigating what really happened. Does that sound familiar?

Check out the Norwegian new story because the English language media missed this tragedy.

Here is a tweet from US journalist, Conor Powell about a new podcast called DEATH ISLAND that kicks off with episode 1 today, 29 March 2023. I understand it will be a 12 part series. The tweet includes an 80 second trailer:

Daniel Talbot tragically passed away on Sunday while allegedly on Koh Tao.
The details surrounding the 19 year old’s death in Thailand remain elusive, leaving his devastated family grappling with grief and working to bring their beloved son back to Australia.

Actually, many of the villains on Koh Tao are from families that originally came from Koh Phangan. Santi Khokpool came from Koh Phangan. He’s the diving instructor who sliced open a tourist’s neck at the Fishbowl Beach Bar a few years back... August 2020 from memory.
