What piece on a Chess Board and who's side?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

What piece on a Chess Board and who's side?

Post by Phnom Krom »

If China is the King, then who is the Queen? The Rook, the Bishop, the Knight, the Pawn?

Same question for the opponent, if America is the King, then ...

Ok, I ask the same for Russia, who are their subs in this tripolar (aspire-ee) world?

More specifically, what piece is Cambodia and for who?

My thnking is they play for both (all) teams. A Chinese Rook or Bishop...an American Pawn...a Russian what?

King - Russia - It believes it is protecting itself but has limited movement.
Queen - USA - Bases all over the place. Can move in any direction.
Knight - UK - Able to use its influence to jump over pieces to get to where it needs to go
Rook - China - Able to move around the board reasonably freely if only everyone else got out of its way and stopped blocking it.
Bishop - The EU - One will always be on a black square, the other on a white square - they can never see eye-to-eye
Pawns - All those that are suffering right now at the hands of Putin. Both Ukrainians and all the cannon fodder he thinks he has the right to play God with.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

Russia and China are substitutes for Nazi Germany and Imperialist Japan, imagining themselves as the alternative outcome from The Man in the High Castle.
In this brave inclusive world, there is no traditional gender identity to the two highest pieces on their side, and instead have gone for a same-gender alliance, where both want to be in charge, and neither really is. As a result, they rarely make a move of their own.

Chechnya and Belarus are the bishops, and true to religious history are playing their own long game.
Knights and Rooks have been made equal to the rest of the peasants. They are also dual coloured- as are the pawns; from that side of the board, they appear black, but from the other side, grey.
Loyalty and ability of each piece is based on current attrition.

The other side of the board- NATO and the US as king and queen, respectively. NATO having limited moves while it keeps all members happy, the US having an opportunity to go off on its own quite quickly.

Germany is both a knight and a bishop. One Rook is Turkey, and equally grey. The UK another knight, and the remaining pieces have yet to identify their identities.

A well considered response. Australia’s on the board.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.
