Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of 22 February 2023, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court sentenced two women to seven years in prison each, on charges of opening and operating a massage parlor for the purpose of providing sex services in 2022. The massage parlor was located in Sangkat Kraing Thnong, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

The two mamasans were arrested on 11 October 2022, after anti-trafficking police raided their massage parlor in Phnom Penh's Sen Sok district's Kraing Thnong commune, and detained 9 female masseurs, including 2 minors. Police also confiscated used condoms, wet wipes, and some unused condoms as evidence.

Rath Sitha, the presiding judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, stated that the accused women, Non Srey Leak alias Vin, 43, and Den Sophoan, 41, were charged by the prosecution with aggravated prostitution, including the involvement of minors, under Article 28 of the Law on the Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation.

Good. Prostitution is illegal in Cambodia, and isn't degenerate Thailand (yet). Send the message this won't be tolerated

Yes, but unlike Thailand, Cambodia never has had in any era a massive chunk of it's GDP dedicated to prostitution, which is one of the reasons why I prefer this place over Thailand (aside from the fact the latter all behave like weird Indochinese Anglos who have a deep, festering culture of corruption and perversion under the veneer of monarchial, regnant respectibility).
