Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On March 16, 2022, two women and one man were arrested at two different places for smuggling over 21kg of heroin and possessing an illegal handgun.
The suspects are identified as Van Menghong, a 30-year-old man, Kong Sokuntheary, a 37-year-old woman, and Him Chhenghour Sodavy, a 20-year-old woman.

According to the statement of the court, the first location was in Borey Chamkar Dong, house #F30, Khan Dongkor where a male and female suspect were arrested. The second place was in group 17, house #594, Prek Rang 1 village, Sangkat Kompong Samnanh, Takhmao city, Kandal province where the other female suspect was detained.


The authorities seized 60 blocks of heroin weighing 21.175kg, a handgun, and a Toyota Prius.
On March 21, the suspects were held in detention while the Municipal Court continued the case for the prosecution.

Court acquits two women, and sentences two men to life in prison for trafficking heroin

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the evening of February 20, 2023, Mr. Seng Rithy, President of the Trial Chamber of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, decided to announce the verdict on two men and two women charged with the illegal possession of a firearm and the trafficking of 21.175 kilograms of the Class A drug heroin. The two women were acquitted by the court, and the two men found guilty as charged.
The sentences are as follows :
1. Him Chheng Hour Sodavy, female, 20 years old, Cambodian, acquitted of all charges
2. Kong Sokuntheary, a 37-year-old Cambodian woman, was acquitted of illegal possession of a weapon
3.Lim Leng Bunra, a 38-year-old Cambodian man, found guilty, sentenced to life imprisonment
4.Va Meng Kong, a 30-year-old Cambodian man, guilty, life imprisonment


The two men, Lim Leng Bunra and Va Meng Kong, were sentenced to life imprisonment and were fined 40 million riels each to be paid into the state budget for illegally transporting and trafficking more than 20 kilograms of drugs at Borey Chamkar Dong, # F30, Sangkat Dangkor, Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh and Pursat Province on March 16, 2022.
On the same day, police also searched house No. 594, Concrete Road, Takhmao City, Kandal Province, where they arrested a female suspect and confiscated a firearm.

The court decided that the two women were at the arrest scenes because they were the girlfriends of the two male suspects, but they were not implicated in their campanions' illegal business, so they were both acquitted and released.
Police seized 60 packages of heroin weighing 21.175 kilograms, a handgun, and a Toyota Prius car.
