Koh Rong Robbery Gets Rapid Results After FB Mention
A cautionary tale
Koh Rong: On 16 February, 2023, a foreign woman, who was staying in a tourist resort on the island of Koh Rong, posted a message on social media about being burgled in her bungalow while she was sleeping. Not surprisingly, she was shocked and upset.

The robbery occured on the night of Feb14-15, and the woman was very upset because she thought that the hotel management were not taking the theft seriously enough. According to social media, the woman and her partner lost 2 iphones, a diamond ring, and a handbag with $1000 cash and documents. She named the hotel and posted this video:

Fortunately, on 17 February 2023, local police came to say that they had recovered all the stolen property. The victims are grateful to the hard-working Sihanoukville police chief for his assistance in solving the robbery.

Finally, I would like to express my deep gratitude to uncle Choun Narin
Commissioner of Sihanouk Province Police and Criminal Police Force of Sihanauk Province
Who worked hard to catch the suspect, retrieved the lost material to my sister and brother-in-law.

Different islands, but it is confusing, because their names are so similar. This one is Koh Rong, the other one is Koh Rong Sanloem.

No, this is the place Koh Rong Sanloem, and it's the one that is supposed to be bulldozed. There is only one Moonlight Resort, especially with bungalows shaped like that, lol... On Saracen Beach, Sanloem. Often tourists mix up the island name, simply leaving off the Sanloem.

BTW, watch the video carefully and you will see one of those hotel room safes flash by under the wall table -- why didn't the victims use that?

How could they be robbed in their sleep? Spiked cocktails? So, maybe the owner knew who did it and got the stuff back?

Okay, then the name of the island is wrong in the original news story, I didn't fact-check it.

As for hotel room safes, I can't even count how many I've encountered that didn't work. More often than not, I did bother to get it fixed, but not always. Would have been a good idea in this case obviously.

I’ve stayed in a few hotels, worldwide, where the room safe was charged extra. Highest so far was $5 per day….
