Cambodia News, (Pursat Province): On the afternoon of February 17th, a 32-year-old man named Chay Keasy, a resident of Krapeu 2 Krom village, in Veal Veng District, Pursat province, reported to police that he had lost a white cow, which he had left tied up to eat the grass behind the house of Men Phalla, a 50 year old man living in the same village.
Mr. Inspector of Veal Veng District Police Inspectorate said after receiving information from a village resident that his cow was missing,
on 18 February 2023 he sent the local branch of the Inspectorate Force and Administrative Police to conduct a search for the missing animal.
Then, during the search of a shed at the property of Mr Phalla, the officers noticed the head of a white cow lying on the ground close to a cow's dead body.
Police then arrested Mr Phalla and took him into custody. They also seized one ax with blood and white cow hair as evidence, while the head and body of the cow were restored to the owner.
Upon police interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had chopped off the cow's head in a fit of anger when he found it eating his crops.
Police are now negotiating a settlement between the cow-slayer and the cow owner.
