...Unless you're a plane crash investigator, or an earthquake rescuer, of course...

There does not appear to be a clear policy regarding the above questions, one that is publicly available at least. I have tried to find a prakas or whatever, but no luck.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:12 pm ..........hen you are likely to be detained pending payment or deportation.
Questions for ya PSD: this has come up in many forums regarding deportation >.....
Some say you will be deported to country you arrived from
Others (and the one i subscribe to) you will be deported to the country of your passport>
A few even think you can choose
second question;
if your broke & deported, who pays? would your embassy step in?
There seems to be no rhyme or reason....some people are deported by being dumped at a land border ie Laos or Thailand, others are deported to the country from which they arrived from, and some are deported back to the country of the passport they entered Cambodia on.
As to who pays, I believe the Embassies/Foreign Ministry pays, and then the deported has their passport confiscated until they pay pack the associated expenses...again though, this may vary from Country to Country.

Generally People only receive a blacklisting if they are caught overstaying or for extremely long periods of overstay, those who voluntarily report their overstay and pay the fines are not blacklisted.Doc67 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 12:15 pmJust for clarification, if you had a short overstay of perhaps 45 days caused by a mistaken belief of your visa expiration date, you will almost certainly have to leave the country?PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 11:46 am Overstays of 30+ days require the offender to present themselves to the DoI Visa Office in Pochentong, pay the overstay fine of $10 p/d, apply for and obtain an Exit Visa for $30, then leave the country within 7 days. You cannot pay overstays of 30+ days at borders (air, land, sea), try bribing officials and see what happens.
In rare circumstances they may allow the offender to purchase a new Visa so that they can remain in country, but that rarely ever is the case.
If you can't pay up, then you are likely to be detained pending payment or deportation.
You have more chance of being able to negotiate a discount on long overstay fines (6+ mths).
Will you be able to return right away or are you banned from re-entry for a set period? Is your passport stamped as deported?
