When I was visiting the KOW in 2006 I remember seeing California emissions info inside the engine bay of our hosts car.

Now to have someone have some fun, would be interesting to find out.

You can search the SMOG pass/fail data using a California licence plate OR VIN number. Can someone there in Camobida check to see if their car is California emissions, does it still show up in the SMOG check website after not being registered here? (yes I'm in Commiefornia still, San Diego).

I use it when browsing cars for sale, gives an idea of pass/fail history and thus some idea of past state of cars for sale. Could also give you some idea of history of cars there in Cambodia if they have every been registered/smogged in the Golden state....

Most cars have the VIN. Can get a Carfax report.

Cars in major wrecks are written off as total losses, get a salvage title, new paint job, and shipped to Cambodia for resale.

Smog and failing California emission standards are low on the average Cambodian car buyer’s mind.

Having the big ‘Lexus’ window sticker is much more important.

Tongue in cheek, of course.
