Open Gambling at 4FL of Boeung Trabek Plaza
Cambodia News; (Phnom Penh): Illegal gambling of all kinds runs quietly on the 4th floor of Boeung Trabek Plaza Market in Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkar Mon, Phnom Penh, without any hinderance from the relevant authorities. People say the local police do not dare to come around, and never go to look on the 4th floor of the plaza, because the gambling den is protected by highly placed officials, who are well paid by the Chinese owners.
Local people say that the online gambling venue located on the fourth floor of Boeung Trabek Plaza Market is so well protected that it may even be under the joint protection of the Chamkar Mon district police chiefs Yin San and Kieng Leak.
However, the local residents of Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkar Mon, who are fed up with all the illegal online gambling openly taking place on the 4th floor of Boeung Trabek Plaza, have appealed to HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, to take legal action to close down the gambling.
The residents say that they are concerned for their families and children, because the illegal gambling operation at the plaza is attracting criminals, drugs, and crime to the area.

UPDATE
Police Raid Comes Up Empty-Handed
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: At 4:00 pm on January 9, 2023, Unity Command forces cooperated with police law enforcement officers to raid an alleged gambling den, located at 4FL, Boeung Trabek Plaza Market, Street 456, Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.
Mr. Mao Boneth, Deputy Governor of Chamkar Mon District, told reporters that this afternoon, he received an order from Mr. Kieng Leak, Governor of Chamkarmon District, to crack down on the KTV because of media reports that the entertainment venue was being used for gambling and taking drugs.
However, when the officers arrived and searched the location at Boeung Trabek Plaza Market (at 4pm), they did not find any gambling or secret use of drugs, but the authorities thanked the media for providing that information which led them to conduct an inspection into the allegations, and they have now been able to confirm that no illegal activities are going on at this location.

Let’s be reasonable, here. Those tables look fairly substantial- it takes time to hide evidence. If they’d raided earlier there would have been no evidence that nothing illegal was not happening…cautious colin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 8:04 am They waited for nearly 3 weeks. And then searched at 4pm

The investigative journos at the Khmer Times seem to have abstained from asking awkward questions on this subject.
[Why was the location raided more than 3 weeks after it was reported as a gambling den ? Local Khmer press hints that the local police chiefs are "at home" here. So, who owns this KTV and alleged gambling den, and what are their links to the local law enforcement officers ?]

Raid on Phnom Penh ‘gambling den’ draws a blank
Authorities were left empty handed after an anti-gambling and drug raid on a location on Phnom Penh found nothing. [Why?]
Khan Unity Command cooperated with law enforcement forces to raid a gambling place, after information was received [at least 3 weeks beforehand], at 4:00 pm on January 9, 2023 at Boeung Trabek Plaza Market Fourth, Street 456, Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.
Mr. Mao Boneth, Deputy Governor of Chamkar Mon District, told reporters that he received an order from Mr. Kieng Leak, Governor of Chamkar Mon District, in cooperation with the Khan Joint Forces to crack down on the location .
However, authorities found no evidence of drugs or gambling.[Why?]
