Not sure if it's down to better coverage but there seem to be a lot of reports recently of violent crimes. A lot more shootings that don't seem to involve Chinese gangs. A lot more chopping. What do other residents think?
Silence, exile, and cunning.

if I had to bet, I would say debt collectors (reminders), as it appears too specific to be some random yobs.

I'm guessing this might be what post Covid Cambodia might look like.John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 9:59 pm Not sure if it's down to better coverage but there seem to be a lot of reports recently of violent crimes. That is called a glaive... Technically this is a glaive attack, not a sword attack...John Bingham wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:19 pm Also, what the fuck is this thing? Some kind of DragonBall Z weapon?

The cynic might imagine the man from the ministry telling the papers to balance up their reporting- there’s no shortage of material, clearly, but there may well be an understandable bias against the Chinese.
For now, the other type of foreigners aren’t increasing their press exposure. That’s a good thing. (?)

Re: Sword Attack on Women at 4:30am in Phnom Penh
On the news report they suggested an ongoing argument between the girls and a relative of the swordsmen (at the end a girl also appeared who was with the gang). Quite a slapstick video. the one with the bizarre weapon was taking the lead although calm about not obviously using his weapon, the very skinny one with a sword kept trying to go in and attack before the lead guy lost patience and started slapping him several times, a process that repeated several times before a little melee at the end and they ran off.
