Cambodia News (Kompong Thom Province): On January 2, 2023, at 7:30 pm in Kompreal village, Brolay commune, Storng district, Kompong Thom province, in a fit of drunken anger, a 32-year-old man, Chun Seng Heang, shot his brother-in-law dead with a DIY (Do-It-Yourself aka homemade) gun.

According to the victim's wife, the problem started when the suspect got drunk and started beating his wife and children, causing them to run away from him to stay with her and her husband at their house. The suspect became furious, and went to find his wife and children, who didn't want to go home with him. So he threatened his brother-in-law and his wife before storming off.

When the suspect came back later, he was carrying the DIY gun and he shot his brother-in-law right in the chest without giving him a chance. The victim was taken to the Storng Health Center, where he died.
The suspect was later arrested and held in custody for further proceedings. The body of the victim was given to his wife for the funeral.
