It's funny how people who've been bashing Covid travel restrictions for the last 2+ years now want them imposed upon Chinese travelers. Why? At this time of built up immunity, there's no need for any of this shit anymore.
Built up immunity from the last variation yes but what about the one running rampant in China and soon the rest of the world. They unleashed the last lot on us and hid the origins.
Keep worrying, worried noodle. I'm done with it.

All this yellow peril has no scientific basis.
"I don’t think it’s likely the UK will get any public health benefit from this measure,” said Professor Mark Woolhouse of Edinburgh University. “This can only have been done for political reasons.”

He was backed by Professor Paul Hunter of the University of East Anglia: “Point-of-entry and point-of-exit screening for serious infections have been shown – on many occasions – to be ineffective at controlling diseases. This has been demonstrated by studies that were carried out before and after the emergence of Covid-19. One study suggested that about 60% of cases are missed this way. This isn’t going to protect the UK population because it isn’t going to stop the spread. So it is hard to see what will be gained by imposing these tests.”

This point was backed by Woolhouse: “Another reason for imposing the tests has focused on the need to track potentially dangerous new Covid variants. But we already know of one that is spreading rapidly in the US. Variant XBB.1.5 now accounts for about 40% of cases there but no one here seems worried about it. Instead, a lot of noise is being made about hypothetical variants emerging in China.”

Australia follows suit with this announcement
“From January 5, travellers from China to Australia will be required to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test and show evidence of a negative result prior to departure “

I assume flights are arriving between now and 5 Jan with no tests conducted.
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Variant XBB.1.5, the variant that is concerning virologists, has now been found in India.

Who knows if it will turn out to be a big problem, maybe it'll be mostly the same as the previous variants, and version XBB 1.5.1 - wherever it happens to mutate and form -will be the one that really causes some shit. Watch this space I suppose.

But, if the people making all the noise about China opening up and traveling now are genuinely worried about new variants and covid spreading they need to be looking at their own back yards and maybe ensuring their own citizens don't continue spreading this latest variant of concern through their own country and around the world.

Morocco has the right idea.
if you have been to China, your not welcome!!!

All travelers arriving from China, regardless of their nationalities, will be banned from entering Morocco starting January 3.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Morocco’s foreign affairs ministry said "all travelers arriving from China, regardless of their nationalities, will be banned from entering Morocco starting January 3." The decision comes on the backdrop of the rising number of COVID-19 infections in the Asian country.

The ministry explained that it had been closely monitoring the development of the COVID situation in China, adding that the decision to stop the inflow of travelers intends to “avoid a new COVID-19 outbreak in Morocco and the repercussions such an event would entail.”

“The decision will enter into force starting January 3, 2023, until further notice,” the statement adds.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
