Van Drives into Shophouse and Awakes Family
Unfortunately, Phnom Penh drivers can get to you even when you are nowhere near a road. Even when you think you are safely asleep in bed, someone with bad steering skills or no brakes may drive into your house at any time. It's just the luck of the draw.
One example:
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): At 2:30 am on December 31, 2022, on Hanoi Blvd., Sangkat Khmounh, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, a seafood van (Kompong Speu 2A-4941) lost control and crashed into a shophouse selling construction tools, destroying the fence, some construction tools, and a Honda Scoopy.
Fortunately, the sleeping family were shocked, but unharmed, and after the police arrived, the van driver agreed to compensate the shophouse owner for the damage he caused.
The reason for the accident remains unknown.
