Cambodia News (Pailin Province): On December 26, 2022, in Thmey village, Sangkat Toul Lavea, Pailin city, a 48-year-old man, Kim Hongsieng, burnt down a widow woman's house in a fit of drunken rage, after she rejected his offer of love and a romantic relationship. The victim was a 56-year-old woman, living with her 15-year-old daughter.
The suspect is from Denniev village, Sangkat Pailin, Pailin city, and furthermore, although he was trying to sweet-talk the widow into having a relationship with him, people say that the man already has a wife at home.


According to the police, the victim went to shop at the market, where she ran into the suspect, who cursed her before driving off on his motorbike. Then, not long afterwards, the man turned up drunk at her house looking for her. The woman was afraid and she sensed that the situation wasn't going to end well, so she and her daughter left the house and went into hiding.
This turned out to be a wise decision by the woman, because the suspect started going through the house in a rage, smashing the contents as he went, before setting the house on fire with petrol. The house was completely destroyed, burnt down to the ground, leaving the woman and her daughter with nothing except the clothes they were wearing. But, they are alive.


The arsonist is being held in custody for further investigation.
