Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Chuon Narin told the media on the afternoon of December 26, 2022, that at 8 pm on December 26, a Cambodian woman came to file a complaint at the Sihanoukville police station She said that an unidentified man had called and told her that her Chinese boyfriend had been abducted and that they wanted $ 3,500 ransom money. She turned over $ 1,000 to the suspects, but they refused to release her boyfriend, so she went to the police.

Immediately after receiving the complaint, the specialized force of Sihanoukville Provincial Police conducted a thorough search, until 8:30 pm on the same day when the police stopped and searched a White ALPHARD car (license plate Phnom Penh 2BQ-6423) along the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway, where they arrested three Cambodian suspects and released the Chinese victim. Special forces then detained three more Chinese suspects at a hotel in Village 2, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville, and brought them to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police for further questioning.

Seized evidence: 1 white ALPHARD car with license plate Phnom Penh 2BQ-6423 and 1 black RANGE ROVER with license plate Phnom Penh 2BV-9889, 2 knives, 9 mobile phones, 1 pack of gram powder (suspected to be a drug) and 1 set of drug paraphernalia.



Currently, the Sihanoukville Police Inspectorate are interrogating the six suspects under arrest, and are searching for the remaining members of the gang.
