Cambodia News, (Kratie): The Kratie Provincial Department of Environment is investigating a small number of corrupt people who have been impersonating environmental officials in order to extort money from people in the province.

Kratie Provincial Department of Environment has expressed regret over the actions of a small group of people who pretend to be environmental officials in order to prevent natural resource crimes, but in fact, these people are fraudsters extorting money from the public.

Recently, according to a social media site, Kampuchea Channa News posted a case in which a person claiming to be an environmental official, an expert in natural resource crime prevention, stopped a man with a motorbike trailer which was carrying beds, in order to extort money from him in O'Kreang commune, Sambor district, Kratie province.

This is according to the press release of Kratie Provincial Department of Environment on December 26, 2022. The public are now warned that there is this group of people who are pretending to be officials with the department, who are illegally fining citizens for environmental offenses.

The Kratie Provincial Department of Environment is searching to identify the perpetrators to file a complaint procedure.
