Depression Due to Wife Eloping; Husband Hangs Himself, Leaving behind 2 Young Children



Kampong Chhnang Province: A man who was made depressed when his wife left him for a new husband over 1 year ago and who wouldn't return decided to kill himself and abandon his 2 young children.

This shocking event caused a commotion at 7:30am in the morning of February 2015 in Daun Douy village, Seap Commune, Kampong Tralack district.

Mr Hol Veasna, a police inspector for Kampong Tralack said that the man who committed suicide by hanging was Hat Setha, 37 years old, from Kampong Thom province, he came to live with his wife who was called Meach Mom, 34 years old in the village where the above incident occurred, they had two sons, the oldest 11 years old and the youngest 8.



The source of information continued: because the man in the years previously always drank alcohol and made problems in his family his wife left him for a new husband in Palin; leaving behind her two children for her husband to look after. Every once in a while she would come back and give some money to the children. Once when she came back, her husband pleaded for her to stay, but she wouldn’t agree.
Even through his wife wasn’t around to help he kept on drinking and would physically abuse his children so much so that they became afraid to sleep in the house and would sleep at their neighbours.
