Getting a present for a Cambodian woman.

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Getting a present for a Cambodian woman.

Post by Kumquat »

I met a Cambodian woman, we clicked on right away but in a very friendly and respectful way. No marriage, money, sex, closed relationship stuff involving. By the way I am married and she knows … so I will leave Cambodia for quite a while and asked myself what kind of small present could I buy her.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not talking like jewellery or taking her out for dinner or something like that. She earns her own money and has a good life. What I mean is there any „cultural“ respectful, honest kind of present that you would get a proud khmer woman.
Hopefully you will understand what I am on about.
Thankful for any help or recommendations.
Maybe this world is another planet’s hell.

Or something else keeping its' value which can relatively easy be exchanged into cash.

Flowers are on the blacklist, even as a present on the side. Reserve those for funerals. A nice perfume on the side will be appreciated, preferably still in the tax free bag from an international airport.

Or cremated.
For a shack I do not recommend flowers, unless her younger sibling sells them in the bar.

You obviously haven't heard the saying " promise them the world but give them flowers"
