Mohanakor Bank Employee Arrested for $350K Embezzlement

Cambodia News, (Kandal province): Kandal Provincial Police Office, in cooperation with the Kien Svay District Judicial Police Force, enacted an arrest warrant issued on 25 November 2022, by Mr. Leav Sreng, Prosecutor of Kandal Provincial Court, and arrested a clerk working at Mohanakor Bank.

Ny Daneth, 26 years old, Khmer, employee of Mohanakor Bank, Kandal province, was charged with breach of trust of $ 350,000.

The breach of trust and the issuance of worthless checks occurred on November 1, 2021 at 14:30 at Champouk Kaek village, Sangkat Prek Thmey, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh. After the scam was discovered, the suspect was arrested on November 25, 2022 at Slap Ta On village, Koki commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province, for swindling $ 350,000 (thirty-five thousand dollars) from two victims. The two victims involved are Chea Violi, 34, and Darith Seng Hour, 27, both live in Sangkat Prek Thmey, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.

Currently, the specialized financial brigade has sent the suspect to Kandal Provincial Court for legal action.
