The most important hour of “The History of Comedy” – an eight-part CNN documentary devoted to stand-up – might be the most serious and sobering: the high toll comedy exacts on its practitioners, from depression to substance abuse.
The tears of a clown almost sounds like a cliché, but given the high-profile examples of comics who died young or took their own lives – among them John Belushi, Chris Farley, Robin Williams and Richard Jeni – it’s more than just a song title. And in that upcoming segment of the program, subtitled “Spark of Madness,” comics talk with considerable openness and honesty about the exaggerated highs and lows associated with their work.

But I don’t have any fancy t.v. channels , just MacBooks and iPads and iPhones

@pissontheroof, given these posts and your general lack of decorum here perhaps you might utilize a sub avatar called" Pissed on CEO and talking with my poopy mouth again...." or something....

Ooh, I do like your avatar and had not examined it until now. Apparently, I confused avatar with username. You seemed to have sobered up.
For your tag line phrase how about, " I remember my first beer."
Do you know or care who is my new avatar?

I’ve always found it a bit of a paradox that Americans in general have little humour (humor) (although they have voted in Trump and Biden so maybe I’m wrong) have no idea (clue) how sarcasm works or subtlety but come out with gems like Southpark, Simpsons, Family Guy etc (which are done by a handful of people) Curb Your Enthusiasm, Frazier, Third Rock etc.
On the other hand I’ve never found Will Ferrel funny. All his movies follow the same format of him not being funny.
British humour is the gold standard for sure, followed by the Germans.

Abbot & Costello, Three Stooges, Charlie Chaplin, Marx brothers.
All comedy kings for me as an American
