Woman Owed Money Smashes Car with Bricks
Cambodia News Phnom Penh: On 20 November 2022, a woman was taken in for questioning by the Chbar Ampov district police, after she had an argument when demanding the money owed by a debtor, where she threw bricks at the car of the debtor causing its back window and two door windows to break. The arrest of this woman happened at 2:30 pm in front of House 186, Street 2F, Veal Sbov Village, Sangkat Veal Sbov, Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh.
According to the Chbar Ampov Police Inspectorate, the victim was Duong Akkara, a 41-year-old male businessman, staying at the above house. The suspect was 25-year-old female salesperson Hong Soktha, who lives in the same village as the victim.
Prior to the incident, the man had borrowed $ 1,500 from the suspect to run a business, promising to repay her with interest; a total of $ 2,100. However, the victim did not repay the suspect.
On 20 November 2022, at 2:30pm, the woman went to the victim's house to collect the money he owed her. They argued about the money, and then the woman threw a piece of brick at the victim’s Black Land Cruiser, causing the rear window to be broken, and smashed the left rear door. She also threw bricks at the victim’s Toyota Pruis car, (Phnom Penh 2AJ-5584) and dented the door.
The victim then called the police and reported the incident to the authorities to arrest the suspect. The police duly arrested the woman and brought her to the Chbar Ampov police station for questioning and settlement with the victim.

Re: Woman Owed Money Smashes Car with Bricks
that's the only way to handle those kind of cheaters/scammers here (what else can you ultimately do here instead of self justice?), so she got my full support.
he can be very happy she didn't smash the brick on his head instead.. got 2 cars but pretends to not be able to return a credit.
(that's obviously under the assumption the report is
flawlessly correct, which is probably not the case)

Not so sure, the car doesn't have a plate, so maybe his business is to buy & sell cars & he hasn't been able to flip it as fast as he thought? Now he won't be able to flip it until he finds more money to fix that window!
But yes, shady dude it seems, and if the cars are actually his personal possessions, then there must be more to this story than meets the eye; the Landcruiser alone is probably 20-30x what he owes her & easy enough to secure a loan from a bank against to pay her off. Doesn't make sense that he can't pay $2k.

Re: Woman Owed Money Smashes Car with Bricks
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of November 24, 2022, Mr. Lim Bunheng, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court decided to maintain a woman in detention after she turned violent and threw stones at the cars belonging to a man who owed her money.
The case before the court relates that Duong Akhra, (debtor and victim of violence), needed some money to supplement his business, so he went to borrow US$1,500 from 25-year-old Hong Soktha, saleswoman, promising to pay her back a total of US $ 2,100.
However, the debtor did not comply with the contract and repay the money as promised, and there were several delays in the repayment. Then finally, on the afternoon of November 20, 2022, the woman went to see Duong Akhra, demanding that he pay her back immediately, and he refused. Then an argument broke out, where the woman picked up some paving bricks and stones and threw them at the man's cars parked by the house. There was some damage done to the vehicles, including a smashed window, so the car owner called the police, who came and arrested the woman.
Authorities then built a case to send the accused women to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.
It should be noted that the woman above the money admitted that she actually threw stones at two cars, but said that it is unjust that the debtor who owes the money goes free, while the one who owns the money goes to jail.

Re: Woman Owed Money Smashes Car with Bricks
Pre-trial detention on minor charges is an extremely spiteful abuse of process. This woman does not pose a danger to herself or society in general, and clearly not the so called victim either, as she could have assaulted him when she met him. Yet she languishes in one of Cambodia's hellhole jails. This is coercion, pure and simple.
Unless she wants to spend the next 6 months in prison waiting for her day in court, she will have to fold, plead guilty, pay him compensation and maybe a fine. She will not get a cent back from this guy. He is clearly better connected than her and has effectively dragooned the police and legal system into acting as a de facto kidnap and ransom goon squad.

That's the wages of going nuts, smashing up a brace of cars and failing a drug testDoc67 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:20 am Pre-trial detention on minor charges is an extremely spiteful abuse of process.
