Good spots near the airport for a pint?
Re: Good spots near the airport for a pint?
Kind of spot to just chill back or not really? Don't want to stick out more than I already doJerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 4:14 pm Bunch of Chinese restaurants across from the airport, decent food and loads of cold beers available
Thanks! Not familiar with the franchise but will check out and see how it is.khmerhamster wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 7:04 pm There is a Metro restaurant/bar in KMall on Veng Sreng Street. It’s maybe 4 or 5km from airport - 10-15 mins by tuktuk.
It’s pleasant enough, it’s the same set up as the other metro’s in city and is the only ‘western’ ish option in the area I am aware of.
Any of note? Can probably check some out, remember hitting up the Diamond one nearby last time we were there and it wasn't a good time.Jamie_Lambo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 7:19 pm quite a few ktvs but i dont know of any western aimed bars near the airport
Any worth going for?

On the way along Veng Sreng there are a few of the sidewalk drinking places that set up each eveningkhmerhamster wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 7:04 pm There is a Metro restaurant/bar in KMall on Veng Sreng Street. It’s maybe 4 or 5km from airport - 10-15 mins by tuktuk.

I would add TK to that list - Metro Azura & Hops just two of the options top of head for drinking, Playroom, Motocafe, etc, plus that German themed place I forget the name of in Aeon2 a stone's throw from TK in Sen Sok closer to the airport. There be options in them thar hills of Battambang!!John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 1:45 pmAgreed, pubs/ western places places don't really exist outside of Daun Penh/ BKK districts.

there are some options, but as I mentioned it will be 99.99 % Khmer and/or Chinese clientele, but if your goal is to chill out they might be some good choices for you

don't bother aeon 2, it's all closed (maybe reopened but empty), midtown mall in 2004 might be of a choice as well (but rather not imo)

Maybe also try stone head brewery and tap room. Only about 10 minutes from the airport towards town.chriz_PP wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 6:14 pm there are some options, but as I mentioned it will be 99.99 % Khmer and/or Chinese clientele, but if your goal is to chill out they might be some good choices for you

You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body.
