Man Attacked Woman with Knife for Alleged Witchcraft

Cambodia News, (Mondulkiri Province): On November 12, 2022, police officers from Koh Nhek District sent a man to the Mondulkiri Provincial Prosecutor's Office for questioning in connection with a case of attempted murder against a 57-year-old woman.

The suspect, Ou Sokleap, 39, a Cambodian farmer, attacked a female famer, Soeur Saveth, with a sharp knife, claiming that the woman was using magic spells against him. He said the knife attack was an act of self-defense, because he suspected her of using witchcraft and he was just trying to protect himself.
The attack occurred on November 8, 2022, in their native village in Rayor commune, Koh Nhek district, Mondulkiri province.

The suspect was arrested by police on the day of November 8, 2022, following the victim's complaint against him for attempted murder, and he has now been sent to the provincial court.
