Pontoon lounge drink prices... and 99 cents.
So, while in Pontoon last night we noticed something... 99 cents.
My buddy had a beer lao, and next to it on the menu was a big $2... so he was fully expecting to pay $2 for it. what he didn't see, and the barman point out at his confusion, was that in a very thin font making it nearly impossible so see was a .99.
A) Marketing genius right there.
B) But kind of shady really... that sort of tricking your customers is poor form for as big of a place as that is.
C) Where's my .01 change? If I buy 100 drinks is my bill $1 less or are they just full of shit? We should pool a big night out to a single bill and test this.

I'm lost. How much did the beer cost?

I'm guessing he thought the beer was $2 when in reality it was $2.99.

I'm guessing from his post that Pontoon put considerable effort into making $2.99 look like $2 - there's a marketing term for this. Shonky.kiwiincambodia wrote:I'm guessing he thought the beer was $2 when in reality it was $2.99.

Who would have thought that a nightclub that caters to people drunk off there ass late at night would try and scam people.StroppyChops wrote:I'm guessing from his post that Pontoon put considerable effort into making $2.99 look like $2 - there's a marketing term for this. Considering how dark it is in there it's hard to see the menu at the best of times. They are nice enough to shine a torch on it for you sometimes.

Wow...that's really low. That 1 cent would then be my tip. Bartender might just get a few hundred riel from me if I stay long enough.

That's like taking a tranny home from a bar. You can see the tits well enough; it's the hidden part that fucks up the deal.

Went there the first and only time and the wifey's friends paid about $70 for a bottle of JD, idiots.
At that time Supercheap et al were selling it for under $20/bottle.
Then some drunken tart started shit because she wanted to sit down with us and we said no.
Horrible place, imho.

Bottle service is rarely about the price of the bottle vs retail. Consider this, a whisky coke at $2 a drink, about 30 drinks to a bottle, is around $60 a bottle... tack on a little extra for the table you'll be taking up, and walah. $70.
Any place you EVER drink at that isn't home or a friends you're probably paying significantly over retail.
