US Citizen TEFL'er Killed in Iraq

Post by PSD-Kiwi »

Thought this may be of interest to any of those who may be considering heading off to teach English in Iraq

Just reading the daily int report from work and it has been reported that an American Citizen who was working as TEFL'er for an NGO was shot & killed in Karrada, Baghdad, following a botched kidnapping attempt.

It sucks for him and his family but I assume he knew the risks when he took the job. Sometimes when you gamble, you lose.

It's definitely something to bear in mind for anyone seeing a new teaching position being advertised and wondering if they could see themselves living there though.
