China get a lot of shit but it’s often unwarranted if you look past the hysteria.
We need nuclear. War or power generation. Either one.

Until the reactors melt down and spew radiation. More reactors, the greater the likelihood. Japan is still dealing with the effects of Fukushima and Russia is still dealing with Chernobyl.mannanman wrote:We need nuclear. War or power generation. Either one.
And nuclear war with nuclear winter as the bonus prize?
Then do we still need nuclear?

Oh that old nonsense. (Chernobyl was yonks ago, Fukushima was over 10 years ago, how did that effect you or me?)newkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:49 pmUntil the reactors melt down and spew radiation. How many people have died due to fossil fuels? I’ll answer that for you. Far, far more than any nuclear incident.
Wind and solar also produce far more CO2 and other emissions than nuclear. They’ll never be as green as nuclear.
Countless oil spills, and explosions (Buncefield, Nordstrom pipeline etc), leaks and so on.
Yes. We need nuclear.
Nuclear war will be confined to Europe, USA and maybe China. We’ll be ok.

100% - but need to phase out the expensive, inefficient and polluting designs from 80 years agonewkidontheblock wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 4:49 pmUntil the reactors melt down and spew radiation. Gen IV Nuclear power does this - no thousands of years of radioactive material, no possibility of meltdown https://climatescience.org/advanced-ene ... ve-nuclear

Hmmmm. Last I heard Chernobyl was in Ukraine (you know, the war and all) but what do I know.

Yes, but it was owned and run by the Russians, who got most of Ukraines nukes in the 90s, which used to be owned by the USSR.johnny lightning wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 10:06 pm Hmmmm. Last I heard Chernobyl was in Ukraine (you know, the war and all) but what do I know.
