Police Arrest Fake Monk Gang in Sihanoukville

Cambodia News (Prey Nup): On November 5, 2022, the Prey Nop District Police arrested three men from Prey Veng and Pursat provinces who pretended to be monks in Ben Batra, after having cheated Buddhists in Bit Trang commune and some other areas in Prey Nob and Sihanoukville districts.

According to the authorities, two of the suspects pretended to be monks and had shaved off their hair and wore saffron robes, while the other suspect is a motorbike driver who ferries the other two around Prey Nob district and Sihanoukville. After cheating on people, the suspects hid the robes and bowl in the forest.

The local authorities considered that the men were acting suspiciously and they monitored the gang until arrests were made.
The three suspects arrested are :
1 24 years old Nget Sros, from Talo Senchey Village, Talo Commune, Phnom Kravanh District, Pursat Province.
2. 30 years old Sean Kavy, from Tram Village, Trapeang Tre Commune, Mesang District, Prey Veng Province.
3. 57 years old Dy Kiet, from Tram Village, Trapeang Tre Commune, Mesang district, Prey Veng province.

They ain't done nothing wrong, I say. So-called "real" monks are just pretendin' anyway, innit. :shrug: :no:
