Monks hospitalized at Khnachormeas pagoda increase to 51

Cambodia News, Battambang: On the afternoon of November 2, 2022, doctors continued to find cases of illness in the monks in Wat Khnachormeas, Battambang province, and the number has increased to 51 cases of illness, including seven cases of dengue fever.

According to the official in charge of Khnachormeas pagoda, most of the monks in the pagoda who are suffering from fever and respiratory problems are between 15 and 18 years old. Twenty-one people were rushed to the district hospital this morning, (2 Nov), but when a team of doctors visited the pagoda, an additional 29 monks were found to have the same symptoms. They were also taken to hospital, bringing the total to 51 monks from the same pagoda being monitored and treated.

Health officials at the Khnachormeas pagoda claimed that doctors were treating seven monks with dengue fever and are continuing to monitor the other monks.
