Appeals court upholds three-year sentence for Filipino man convicted of drug trafficking

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The Phnom Penh Municipal Court of Appeal on the morning of November 1, 2022, confirmed a sentence to three years in prison in connection with drug trafficking in Sangkat Mittapheap, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh. Mr. Pov Phousun, President of the Trial Chamber, stated that the accused is TED ALEJANDRO SAMOY, male, born in 1998, Filipino.

In this case, TED ALEJANDRO SAMOY was sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court in 2020 to three years in prison for “illegal drug trafficking under Article 40 of the Drug Control Law." The accused was arrested on January 10, 2020 in a rented room on Street 118 in Sangkat Mittapheap, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh. During the arrest, the police confiscated 90 grams of ice.

2 months and 9 days left of a 3-year sentence. If he thinks his sentence was absurd, how about, "I think we should go ahead with the appeal". Although I don't think the sentence can be increased KoW.

The law in the KOW are a formality when the powerful are not involved.

If Ironman had a personal desire to keep him in prison longer, no doubt sentence would have increased.

Yes, with such a short time to go the last thing you want is anyone paying attention to your sentence.

The judge's clerk might make a mistake and type 5 instead of 3 on your paperwork and you can't get anyone to listen for the next 2 years!
