Yes, agree in theory.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 3:25 pm
Motorcycle carts, remorque style tuk tuks, home built trucks and van conversions should all be banned from the road
But this is what happened recently when the "motodops", known as "okadas"in Lagos, Nigeria, got taken off the road - massive unemployment for mostly unemployable people and lack of cheap transport for the poor.
This was also announced as a measure to reduce crime (bag-snatching robberies) in Lagos, but large numbers of men out of work is not going to fix the crime rate. It might help with the number of traffic accidents though, with statistics saying that the "okadas" were causing a large number of Lagos traffic accidents.
Any sort of vehicle ban would affect the poorest, but I would support stricter vehicle control and some sort of MOT, I guess. And more road code education for schools and the general population.

There are still a few around the central district. One thing I would like to see enforced is lights on vehicles at night, it's amazing how many idiots pile around without lights on dark streets. Some are shitboxes that don't have operational lights but many are morons trying to save a few cents on gas.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:09 pm

Traffic code needs amending for that; it's perfectly within the law to drive without a headlight at night where there is "adequate street lighting"John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:07 pmThere are still a few around the central district. Maybe they believe the government will tax them when switching on the lights at night.John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:07 pmThere are still a few around the central district. Dark window tint on front windows is against traffic code, but nobody really cares to enforce it very muchKammekor wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:25 pmWhen they made that rule there were no blinded windows yet...Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:18 pmTraffic code needs amending for that; it's perfectly within the law to drive without a headlight at night where there is "adequate street lighting"John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:07 pmThere are still a few around the central district. making it a double whammy. No lights plus blinded windows.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:29 pmDark window tint on front windows is against traffic code, but nobody really cares to enforce it very muchKammekor wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:25 pmWhen they made that rule there were no blinded windows yet...Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:18 pmTraffic code needs amending for that; it's perfectly within the law to drive without a headlight at night where there is "adequate street lighting"John Bingham wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:07 pmThere are still a few around the central district. I see it more with motorbikes/ remorques than cars.
