9Yo Boy Drowns Playing in Flood Waters

Cambodia News (Battambang Province): On October 13, 2022, in Chrey Thmey village, Thmor Kol district, Battambang province, a 9-year-old boy slipped into a deep sewer channel while he was playing in the floodwaters with a friend.
The other boy called for help, and the parents, assisted by local villagers, searched for the missing kid for 30 minutes, but unfortunately, when they found his body, it was too late.
The authorities inspected the body of the boy, and concluded that he had died from drowning, before allowing the relatives to take him back for a funeral.

Young boy killed after slipping into ditch
A drowning occurred in Battambang that claimed the life of a young boy who slipped and fell into a ditch.

This tragic incident [occurred] at 19:00 on October 12, at Lu Toul Beng point in Chrey Thmey village, Chrey commune, Thmor Kol district, Battambang.

According to the police at the scene, the victim was a 9-year-old boy named Chhay Sifong, who lived in Kbal Khmoch village, Chrey commune, Thmor Kol district.

The boy had reportedly been playing, when he slipped and fell into a deep ditch. After relatives did not see the child return home, they went out to search for him. Due to the depth of the water and the darkness, it took more than half an hour to find him.
