An island adjacent to the famous Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsay) in Kep province has been earmarked for major development

The Investment Committee of Cambodia of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) on September 30 decided to issue an investment project registration certificate to the Duke Try Pheap Company for the Koh Tbal Development Project to develop into a natural tourist area.

According to the press release from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), the CDC has decided to authorize “TRY PHEAP KOH TUNSAY RESORTS CO., LTD” by Tycoon Try Pheap on the Koh Tbal Development Project

The project company will invest about 17 million US dollars and can create 105 jobs.

Mr. Kheng Yuan, Governor of Kep City, said that the work was carried out by the company in collaboration with the CDC to study some of the impacts on Tbal Island, and that the Kep Provincial Administration would coordinate to address the impact on the island

Koh Tbal is a island with an area of ​​about 10 hectares, about 6 km from Kep and a boat trip of about 35-45 minutes.
It is adjacent to Koh Tonsay, which is also part of Try Pheap’s development.

The Cambodian tycoon Try Pheap is planning to invest US$17 in an island real estate venture on Koh Tbal, off the coast of Kep province, close to his newly planned development of Koh Tonsay (aka Rabbit Island).

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has decided to issue a registration certificate for eight investment projects with a total capital of US$ 89m to build two hospitals, Develop Koh Tbal Island, and establish five factories in Kep, Kandal, Kampong Speu, Kampong Cham and Phnom Penh.

These private companies include:

The first firm is ORIENDA INTERNATIONAL HOSPITAL CO., LTD which will invest US$21m to build an International Hospital Construction, located at Duong Ngiep 2 Street, Damnak Thom 3 Village, Sangkat Steung Meanchey III, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

The second firm is NEW WORLD HEART & VASCULAR HOSPITAL CO., LTD which will invest US$20m in a Cardiovascular Hospital, located on Street 1934, Oknha Veang Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh.

The third firm is TRY PHEAP KOH TUNSAY RESORTS CO., LTD which will invest US$17m to develop Koh Tbal Island, located in Kep Village, Sangkat Kep, Kep City, Kep Province.

The fourth firm is GLOBAL PASS BIOTECHNOLOGY CO., LTD which will invest US$7.2m to establish a food processing factory located in Prek Dong village, Kampong Svay commune, Kien Svay district, Kandal province.

The fifth firm is YURA HARNESS (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD which will invest US$6.8m to establish a factory to assemble electrical wiring, located in Tuol Thnong Village, Sangkat Rokar Thom, Chbar Morn City, Kampong Speu province.

The sixth firm is RISE STEADY FOOTWEAR MATERIAL (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD which will invest US$6.5m to establish a shoe accessories factory located in Ta Sen village, Sotip commune, Cheung Prey district, Kampong Cham province.

The seventh firm is TWHQ GARMENTS CO., LTD which will invest US$5.4 to establish a garment factory located on National Road 8, Vihear Sour Cheung Village, Vihear Sour Commune, Khsach Kandal District, Kandal Province.

The eighth firm is COBEST (CAMBODIA) FIRST GARMENT CO., LTD which will invest US$5.1m to establish a garment factory located in Trapeang Toul village, Sangkat Kampoul, Khan Kampoul, Phnom Penh.

Construction of Koh Tonsay Tourism Port 50 percent Complete

The construction of a tourism port on Koh Tonsay Island, about 4 kilometres offshore from Kep province, has achieved almost 50 percent as of October.

The update was shared during a recent inspection visit by a technical delegation of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, accompanied by Kep provincial authority and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team.
According to the technical team, the construction of the port started in late 2021. It is expected to cost about US$1.6 million under a loan from the ADB.
Another component of the project under the same loan is the construction of a coastal road on Koh Tonsay Island, which is now 82 percent complete.
The construction of Koh Tonsay Tourism Port aims to expand tourism and the economic potential of Kep province, said Kep Provincial Governor H.E. Som Piseth.
