2 Chinese and 1 Cambodian Missing After Crashing into Kampot Dam
Cambodia News,(Kampot): After the accident, a car overturned near the Kamchay Dam on the night of September 28, 2022, however the bodies of three occupants have not yet been found (on the night of 29 September). The three men are presumed dead.
The police officer of Teuk Chhou District Inspectorate said that the three victims were:
1. Say Phatra, Cambodian male, 23 years old, driver, resides in Snom Prampi village, Mak Prang commune, Teuk Chhou district, Kampot province.
2. LI ZHEN, male, 23 years old, Chinese national, valid passport.
3. XIONG ERPI, a 34-year-old Chinese man holding valid passport .
Authorities say that on the night of September 28, 2022, the car was heading towards the Kamchay Dam,with two Chinese nationals and a Cambodian driver, when suddenly at a distance of about 150 meters from the dam, the car drove off the road and into the ravine. The source added that this may have been caused by the driver not seeing the road, because it was raining heavily that night.
The car, a white Touris with license plate Phnom Penh 1AH.8437, was found at 12 noon on September 29, in a crumpled heap about 500 meters from the road. Kampot police are still searching for the three men in order to recover the bodies.

so that's what the dam looks like......
if you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

BODIES FOUND
Cambodia News, (Kampot): The police searched until 12 o'clock on 29.9.2011 and found only the car about 500 meters from the road, with no signs of any bodies. As the water level in the pool was rising, the dam company needed to release water from the pool.
So then on the morning of September 30, 2022, the company completely shut down the water and found the bodies of the three victims by 8:50am at three different locations:
Xiong erpi (Chinese) and Say Phatra (Khmer) had been washed about four kilometers away from the original accident scene. Li zhen was found on a rock under the second dam, about 5 kilometers from the scene.

Re: 2 Chinese and 1 Cambodian Missing After Crashing into Kampot Dam
So all three victims were so violently ejected from the car that they ended up in the water? And the car ended up 500 meters from the road? No, doesn't make sense to me.

What doesn't make sense?
They drove over the edge directly into the discharge pool of the dam - at night during a week of exceptional rainfall
The car fetched up on the rocks downstream having been bashed to shit due to the massive power of water flow and the bodies were tricky to find for similar reasons
I would suppose that they all were employees of the Kamchay dam as normies aren't allowed into the area where they drove into the discharge pool

I thought the same, for the vehicle to end up 500 metres from the road it must have entered the water (though the original article doesn’t clarify this) and been bowled along in the powerful current.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 3:39 pmWhat doesn't make sense?

Whether the victims were washed out of, or ejected themselves from the vehicle, what were their chances of surviving in such turbulent waters in darkness?

I think the very first pic gives us an idea of where the car went in; right in front of the spillway - and if you know the river south of that it gets extraordinary flows of water in these conditions so would easily propel a vehicleChad Sexington wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 4:00 pmI thought the same, for the vehicle to end up 500 metres from the road it must have entered the water (though the original article doesn’t clarify this) and been bowled along in the powerful current.Jerry Atrick wrote: ↑Sat Oct 01, 2022 3:39 pmWhat doesn't make sense?

Even if one managed to get out of the car alive the super aerated water would not allow a human to swim or float
