Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the morning of 15 September 2022, the Phnom Penh Municipal Court of Appeal announced the verdict on the appeal of Chum Kry, a 35-year-old male farmer living in Oral District, Kampong Speu Province, sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for illegal logging, cutting and trafficking protected trees.

In April 2022, the defendent was sentenced by the Kampong Speu Provincial Court to 6 years imprisonment for harvesting 3 tons of rosewood without a permit in 2021. He was also fined 15 million riels to be paid as compensation to the state, and police confiscated the 3 tons of luxury wood and a bulldozer.

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court of Appeal upheld his sentence, but granted him leave to appeal to the Supreme Court in accordance with the law.

I have no idea about Cambodian law, but doesn't the sentence sound critical.
What gets me is when someone who wants to put a building or resort, land maybe cleared. I suppose with the correct paperwork.

Remember this one, the Range Rover doing 50mph in sides streets and killed the young female university student, all caught on video.

Sentenced* to a total of one year and served a total of TWO MONTHS. (Depending on which version of Khmer Times reports you believe)

Doc I think we already know about this system, depends on who you are, or how much money you have in many cases.
First class corruption, and from the top, don't bode well does it.
