Six new Australian volunteers will commence their mission in the provinces of Siem Reap and Battambang, and Phnom Penh capital this month.

The Australian volunteers programme is a central and valued part of Australia’s engagement in Cambodia, underlined the embassy, pointing out that over the last decade, the Australian Government has supported more than 400 volunteers to help build the capacity of their Cambodian partner organisations.

“While a small number of volunteers were able to continue to work in Cambodia during COVID-19, we are delighted that new volunteers are also able to be deployed once again,” it added.

The Australian Volunteers Programme is conducted in 26 countries across the Indo-Pacific. In Cambodia, the programme supports communities across a range of development priorities, including health, education, agriculture and rural development, infrastructure, private sector partnership and enabling, disability, gender empowerment, child protection, environment, and governance.
