There's a website you have to apply on after 9th September.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 2:42 pm Excellent. Can we just rock up to the ticket office with a passport and visas, or anything else needed/must be applied for elsewhere?

The khmers only buy simple food, dont buy souvenirs, dont use guides, doubt they use tuk tuks either, so there spending is very minimal

I'd disagree with that statement. My wife's family takes many trips to Angkor and also to the Waterfall each year. When they go to the Waterfall they rent a van for the trip up and back. They sit by the water and order food, take pictures, sometimes pay to wear traditional dress and have pictures taken. I'd say they actually spend more than the tourists that get taken up to the waterfall, look around, put their feet in the water and head on out.
Same at Angkor. They buy food from vendors, drinks and have picnics and relax. They often take a tuk tuk out and back and sometimes two depending how many people are going out.
While I'm happy that it appears I'll be able to head out to Angkor occasionally, I must admit that I might need a new excuse to skip some of the waterfall trips. When the price of a ticket went up we agreed it just wasn't worth the cost for an afternoon. Now I might be heading off to the waterfall for a hot afternoon or three

Or you can apply at the ticketing office, a few people have reported applying already, 7 days to process they've been told.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 3:58 pmThere's a website you have to apply on after 9th September.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 2:42 pm Excellent. Waiting seven days isn't really useful unless you live in SR. I'll wait and try on the website.

I'm still not so sure about the wording. I'll wait and see what experiences others have.

Re: Free Angkor Temple Visits
Did you read the official MoT translation? It's clear as glass, and has been confirmed, free Annual pass, no limit on visits during that period. But hey, what do I know, or care, every temple looks the same to me, just sharing info for folks who enjoy that stuff.John Bingham wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 7:04 pm I'm still not so sure about the wording. I certainly did read it but I still feel it is ambiguous. As I said I will wait and see how the personal experiences play out.

The original Khmer is not ambiguous, but quite clear:

Re: Free Angkor Temple Visits
It was ambiguous, but no more -a friend applied last week and was told at the ticket office that it covers unlimited visits, not just Angkor Wat but all archaeological sites in the greater Angkor area. Apply once a year for free all-year-round visits. Just need a passport with visas showing continuous residence for the past two years or more. My two years is up in first week November, so I hope its still going then.

From KT today:
Meanwhile, the expats planning to visit Angkor and Koh Ker for free have to apply for a permit at Angkor Institution online. They must have copy of their passport and a certificate of residency in Cambodia for two years or more, as well as a 4×6 photo taken in the past six months.
