Police Chase Human Traffickers from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Police arrested 4 Chinese nationals at 5:15 pm on August 29, 2022 at the traffic light on National Road 4, Chumpouvorn 1 Village, Sangkat Choam Chao III, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, in a suspected case of human trafficking.

According to the authorities, a black Lexus RX300 taxi with license plate Phnom Penh 2Q-3009, carrying four Chinese men and a Cambodian driver suspected of human trafficking in Sihanoukville, drove out of Sihanoukville towards Phnom Penh on 29 August. An alert was posted to the police forces of the provinces and cities to stop the vehicle and arrest the occupants.

According to a source from the police, the vehicle was blocked by the Kampong Speu Provincial Police, but the car did not stop. The vehicle kept trying to escape from the police until the traffic lights on National Road 4, when Phnom Penh Traffic Police cooperated with the Po Sen Chey district police and intercepted the Lexus carrying the four Chinese nationals.

After seizing the taxi, along with the four Chinese suspects, the police took them to the 3rd Chao Chao police station in Po Sen Chey district, waiting for the Anti-Human Trafficking Prevention Department to take the four suspects for further questioning.
