Fatal Scissors Stabbing in Foreigner Dispute
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: According to a report this morning, there was a fatal dispute between three Filipino nationals at 25, Street 103, Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkar Morn in Phnom Penh.
The initial report says that, in a fit of violence,one of the three people at the scene stabbed the other two people, a man and a woman, to death with a pair of scissors. The couple were living in the house where they were killed, and the attacker was known to them. The attacker was also injured and may have died on the way to hospital.

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On September 10, 2021 at YABES APARTMENT No. 25, Street 103, Group 25, Village 8, Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkar Morn, a Filipino man stabbed his sister and brother-in-law to death in a pool of blood, before jumping from the first floor balcony of the building.
The victims were identified as Jerry l Cervancz Jr., 41, of the Philippines, and Grace Yabes Suyat, 43, of the Philippines. They are a married couple.
Separately, the suspect named YABES FERMIN JR SUYAT, 59 years old, living in the condo above the apartment owner (arrested and sent to rescue at Khema Hospital) is the brother of the victim named Grace Yabes Suyat.
The victim's 12-year-old son told the police that before the incident, he saw the suspect walking into the kitchen where his mother was working, and the two people had a heated argument. (The child said that he didn't understand what they were fighting about.)Then the suspect snatched up a vegetable knife from the kitchen and stabbed the woman several times. The husband ran to help his wife and fought the suspect, who grabbed some other knives and stabbed his brother-in-law to death.
The suspect then jumped from the first floor, badly injuring himself. He was taken to Khema Hospital, Street 294, Sangkat Boeung Keng Kang I, Khan Boeung Keng Kang. [Later reports said that he died in hospital; to be confirmed.]
The embassy has been contacted.

Police still investigating murder of foreign nationals by family member
A Filipino suspected of murder is admitted at a private clinic in Chamkar Mon district under police guard due to serious injuries on both his legs and hands after he jumped from a first floor apartment in an attempt to flee after the deaths of his younger sister and her husband.
Phnom Penh police are still investigating the murder case which happened about 10am on Friday at Yabes Apartments located in Boeng Trabek commune.
District deputy police chief Major Keo Veasna identified the suspect as Yabes Fermin JR Suyat, 54, a Filipino who is the owner of the apartment building, .
Maj Veasna said that the suspect is now warded at the private clinic in Chamkar Mon district due to his serious injuries after he jumped from the first floor of the apartment after allegedly killing the two victims.
Maj Veasna identified the two victims as Jerry I Cervancs JR, 43, and his wife Grace Yabes Suyat, 41, both Filipino.
“We still do not know the motive behind the murder of the two victims since the suspect is now at the hospital and we cannot interrogate him yet,” Maj Veasna told Khmer Times yesterday.

A Filipino male national has received a relatively light sentence for killing two people, in the verdict announced by the judge yesterday.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): Ms. Yi Sok Vouch, Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court and Mr. Sam Rithy Veasna, Representative of the Prosecution, on the evening of August 24, 2022, decided to announce the verdict on the case of the accused, Yabes Fermin Jr Suyat, male, a 59 year old Filipino national.
The accused was remanded in custody by the Investigating Judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court at Prey Sar Prison on 18 September 2021 and stood trial on 17 August 2022, for the deaths of his younger sister and her husband. Yabes Fermin Jr Suyat stabbed the couple to death with a kitchen knife during a heated argument. The incident occurred in an appartment belonging to the accused, situated at Sangkat Boeung Trabek, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh.
On 24 August, the accused was found guilty of intentional violence, aggravated by the death of the victims, and he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Extremely light sentence considering that kid will be traumatized for life - unlikely he'll make a comeback from that at 12. Savage circumstances and savage death. Hope the kid gets the help he'll need.

In another report it said that was just his first sentencing which implied there was more to come.
