Takhmao City governor sacked for ‘inactive’ duty

The Governor of Kandal province’s Takhmao City has been removed from his post and reassigned to work in the Kandal Provincial Administration.

It is understood Nou Sovannara’s demotion was due to his “inactiveness in dealing with issues on clean water for residents”.

It is learnt that the water issue came to head following leaked messages between Kandal Provincial Governor Kong Sophoan and Takmao commune chief Cheam Khoy.

The messages centred on Sovannara’s work as governor of Takhmao city.

In one message, Khoy wrote: “He (Sovannara) will order commune chiefs to work and deal with residents’ problems but he never guided or supported actions with a budget or material for dealing with the issue.”

Khoy also claimed that Sovannara and the four deputy Takhmao city governors were inactive leaders who only instruct subordinates to carry out their orders.
“Most commune chiefs in Takhmao city are not satisfied with Sovannara’s work”, Khoy said.
