Police Raid Reported Illegal Chinese Gambling Den
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): After local media reported that there is a casino inside house number 113, Prey Tea 1 village, Sangkat Choam Chao III, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, at 10 am on July 17, 2022, the police cracked down and closed the operation, which was previously branded as the Airport Beer Room.
The back location was open only for Chinese people to visit and two security guards are sitting out in front to stop any Cambodians entering.
After local media reported that the address was being used as an illegal Chinese gambling den, this morning, July 17, 2022, Mr. Mon Vuthy, Police Inspector of Po Sen Chey District, ordered the 3rd Chao Chao Administrative Police to inspect and close the business.

Re: Police Raid Reported Illegal Chinese Gambling Den
But when they got there, the cupboard was bare...
Cambodian journalists report their suspicions that a police raid at a suspected gambling den at No. 113, Prey Tea 1 Village, Sangkat Choam Chao III, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, was just for show.
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): The public who know the fake story of the Police Inspector of Po Sen Chey District have come together to laugh and want to spread the story of Inspector Mon Vuthy who organized forces to inspect and crack down on a large gambling place (casino).
In the gambling house, there were 3 active gambling tables, and local people have often reported this to the authorities, but the authorities did not take action until this story was leaked to a group of journalists.
However, upon arrival, the venue was stripped of its game equipment, as if setting up a stage for the public to watch, and even inviting journalists to visit the theater.
When the district inspector Por Senchey Mon Vuthy could not hide his secrets anymore, shamed by the journalists, he had then set up a force to check and crack down on the casino. But when the police and the journalists arrived at the alleged gambling house at the above address, it was empty, with no gambling equipment, and gaming tables were removed, as if the owners had been tipped off about the coming police raid.
Due to the fact that the raid led by Mr. Mon Vuthy seemed suspicious, and that the game tables and gambling equipment were removed before the police arrived, journalists suspect that the whole affair was stage-managed to mollify the media and the local people who were complaining about police inaction.

Re: Police Raid Reported Illegal Chinese Gambling Den
Now you see it, now you don't, now you do...
"Empty" Chinese Gambling Den is Full Again
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A Chinese poker casino gambling site in New Town, Street 113, in Prey Tea 1 Village, Sangkat Choam Chao III, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh, is still running smoothly with no interference from authorities, and every day is business as usual.
Following complaints from the neighbors about illegal gambling and crime, the local police went to the site in question last month and they found the rooms were totally empty of people and furnishings. So the police declared that the gambling den was closed down and their raid was successful.
July 17, 2022
However, according to the neighbors, the closure did not last long and the above location was soon reopened as a gambling den, and there are many Chinese guests who like to visit the location, all of them driving modern (ie.expensive) cars. They also say that local police have not been seen in the street since they raided and closed the joint.
There is always the Chinese boss at the location and there are always two Cambodian officers acting as security guards, who strictly forbid the entry of any Cambodians, and in fact it is noted that all the guests at the gambling den appear to be of Chinese nationality.
Local people are confused. Is it possible that the authorities have been fooled and do not know this gambling place has reopened, or do they not dare to crack down this establishment for other reasons ?
In any case, local residents call on Mr. Mon Vuthy, Police Inspector of Por Senchey District, and Mr. Hem Darith, District Governor, to please take action against the above establishment to protect and keep the area safe. They are afraid that where there is gambling every day, crimes like theft and robbery increase in the neighborhood.
